Foundation Commits to Kiwanis Park
The Kiwanis Park, at the corner of N. Elm Avenue and Blakely Street, has an updated look. A rededication was help on September 16, 2011. Thanks to a partnership between the Kiwanis Foundation and the City of Jackson, the park has grills, benches, playground equipment, lights, landscaping, and improved fencing, a large pavilion with picnic tables, and new bathrooms.

The most dramatic transformation is the addition of a grand entrance to the park featuring a welded arch with brick walls and pillars. Below, on the left is the old entrance, and on the right is the new entrance.

The project cost $148,000. Not only did the club commit financial resources to this renovation, but members donate their time by painting the storage building that houses the bathrooms and storage room, and planting flowers and shrubs.

Leave a Legacy at the Park

Within the pillars are 100 granite blocks. Many  are still available for purchase with an engraved message. The purchase price is $125 for each block. All proceeds from the sale of the granite blocks will be used for additional park enhancements. Download the Granite Block Project Form here and return it with payment to the Kiwanis Foundation.
