2nd Annual Jackson Citizen Patriot Chili Cook-Off - February 8, 2004

Downtown Kiwanis participated for the second year in the Jackson Citizen Patriot Chili Cook-Off for three reasons:
  • Encourage and promote the image of Downtown Kiwanis Club to prospective members.
  • Encourage people to sign up to participate in the 18th Annual Kiwanis Chili Classic at Hankerd Hills Golf Course on February 21st.
  • Encourage people to sign up for the raffle drawing - winner's choice of a Michigan or Michigan State golf bag.
The JCP Chili Cook-Off was held on February 8th with Head Chef, Bob Eberhart, cooking up a big batch of "Pro Chili". Chef Bob's "special" recipe, while not a winner, was a hit with the audience. Herb Poulsen, once again, constructed our eye-catching booth. Chili samples were then sold to the audience with profits going to the Jackson Community College Scholarship Program. A great time was had by all!

Therese Hesslau chaired the committee and the following members participated in making this outing a huge success:
President Bob Malott
Bob Eberhart
Pat Kiessling
Mike Gorney
Stacy Klevay
Herb & Jan Poulsen
Jan Anderson
Bob Johnson
Sharon Norton
Nora Dillon
