Our Service Projects
We Build, We Serve
Today the Jackson Club has 110 men and women who emphasize and live the founder's motto of helping children.  Over $44,000 was spent on needy areas this past fiscal year.  But besides money, club members also donate their time, talent and sometimes their personal treasures to keep programs going.  The Club asked members to volunteer items or money to help the food pantry of the Salvation Army, send gift packages to soldiers in Iraq and help with hurricane relief efforts in the south.  Kiwanians responded with enthusiasm and emotion. Traditional projects include building wheelchair ramps, ushering Summer Movies at the Michigan Theatre, planting flowers in downtown Jackson, mentoring students at Wilson School, ring bells for the Salvation Army, delivering toys to children's hospitals, sponsoring the annual Halloween Party, hosting baby showers for the Aware and Interfaith Shelters, providing shoes and boots for needy schoolchildren, and Kiwanians take pride in doing the extra needed to make these projects happen and help others. Partnering with the Jackson Cascade Kiwanis Club, the Jackson Northwest Kiwanis Club and the Brooklyn Kiwanis Club, the four clubs furnished dictionaries to all third grade students in the county in 2004.  And again in 2005.
